Hopefuls of the Derby crop met today in the Listed level Grafenberg Derby Trial over 2200 metres to draw a ticket for the highlight of the year. Among them the PROTECTIONIST son LOTTERBOV, who reached this goal with a very strong second place and left an excellent impression. The colt, prepared by Markus Klug for Holger Renz, enjoyed a ground-saving trip and excellent ride by Maxim Pecheur on the inside rails from where he launched his attack in the straight, taking the shortest route to an amazing second place finish. This should secure the Derby start for LOTTERBOV, who will certainly benefit from the conditions in Hamburg and the longer distance.
